Separation anxiety is a normal part of early childhood—but knowing that doesn’t make the tears or tough goodbyes any easier. From a baby’s first awareness that you’ve left the room to toddler tears at dropoff or a preschooler suddenly struggling with goodbye, separation anxiety can take many forms and emerge (or reemerge) at different stages. Join Dr. Rebecca Schrag Hershberg, Clinical Psychologist, Parenting Coach, Author, & Speaker, for a conversation about what’s really happening during separation and how families can navigate it with greater confidence and less stress.

We’ll talk about:
  • How separation anxiety changes from infancy through age five, including why it can suddenly appear or resurface

  • Practical strategies for easier separations, whether you’re leaving for work, dropping off at school, introducing a new caregiver, or navigating everyday goodbyes

  • The parent side of separation anxiety, including managing your own emotions, responding to your child’s distress, and knowing when either of you might need additional support
